On a wing and a prayer by unusualsuspex On a wing and a prayer by unusualsuspex
The last Y-Wing of Bantha Squadron, shepherded by a pair of A-Wings from the same base, returns home badly damaged, its port engine barely functioning and seemingly kept aloft by the cheers and hopes of the crews awaiting its arrival.

I honestly love this image which combines a real image with 3d models. Initially there were no figures on the tower but as I figured out the manipulation of rigged figures they eventually made their way in!

The people on the tower reminds me of scenes from such WW-2 movies as "Memphis Belle", "Twelve O'Clock High",  and  "Command Decision". Where the squadron or group CO,would be there with his adjutants as the B-17's were coming back from a raid. Except, they might have been using binoculars as they counted the returning planes. The crippled ship is just exactly in keeping with such a scene. Well done!

How long did it take you to create this?

This one took me a little while purely because of it's composition. (About 5 days on and off)

The background, including the metal tower, was an uncredited photograph from the web which is what sparked the idea.

The Y and A wings were obviously model renders.

The figures (which weren't rigged for articulation) were the hardest to pose, light and get right.

To be fair, I've improved a little since then but I still count this in my favourites :)

Reminds me of the crippled Bomber landings they show in World War two documentaries
