(idiomatic, slang, aviation) In the Forces, "Hangar Queen" is not a proud title. It relates to a craft which requires a great deal of regular maintenance and has an unfavourable ratio of maintenance time to flight time. It therefore sits in the hangar and is systematically "cannibalized" (stripped of its parts) so that other craft may fly.
