The Galaxy really wasn't bad just hasn't been able to show its real teeth
As much as I thought the Sovereign Class was badass, there are times that I do with the movies First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis happened on the Enterprise D because we never saw the dramatic action, and suspenseful moments (like the Borg assimilating Engineering and the corridor or the collision damage on Nemesis) on the D throughout the series. I always thought it was dumb how the producers, when they made the first TNG movie, destroyed the Enterprise D; but I wanted to ask your opinion with that: you mentioned above that you see a number of Galaxy Class ships in the Dominion War, do you think that was why the producers decided to destroy the D? I can imagine that the producers wouldn't have wanted the viewers of DS9 to suspect one of those Galaxy Class ships in the background in the battle to be the Enterprise D, otherwise the viewer would expect to see an appearance of the TNG crew. Does that make any sense?
Nah, They destroyed it because it looked ugly to Ronald D. Moore, Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. They made up excuses saying that it was too unwieldy to film because of it's size (the Six Foot model) and that Kirk's death wouldn't have had as large an impact as much as the destruction of the Enterprise.
Nah, I don't think they gave the viewers that kind of credit.
She is most celebrated of the Enterprises.
This isn't my Galaxy class, I think it's Prologic9's...
Damn! Cheers Dave, my age is really starting to show now
On the other hand, I wish I could build an amazing Galaxy class like P9
